Any questions about trash service can  also be directed to a township representative.  If you live within the village limits, please contact the Village of Unionville. 

 

Columbia Township, in conjunction with Emterra Environmental, offers a curbside waste collection and recycling program for residents outside of the Village of Unionville limits. Fees for this service are assessed on resident’s tax bill.

TRASH and RECYCLING PICK UP IS PROVIDED WEEKLY.  If a holiday falls on or before your scheduled day, pickup will be one (1) day later than normal. If a holiday falls on a weekend, your scheduled pick up day will NOT change. OBSERVED HOLIDAYS ARE: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
 
ALL MATERIALS SHOULD BE SET AT THE CURB BY 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick up.  Containers should not weigh more than fifty (50) pounds each. For those with special pick up needs, contact your Township Office.
 
UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS:  Tires, concrete, fencing, any contractor generated materials, free liquids (paints, pesticides, etc), car parts, appliances containing Freon, fluorescent bulbs (in excess of seven per household), car batteries, syringes/ needles, hazardous waste, poisons, dead animals, industrial manufacturing waste, oil, rock and brick.

 

Recycling Guidelines: Collection for recycling products will occur weekly, same day as regular trash collection. Accepted recycling materials include newspapers, cardboard, boxboard, magazines, tin, aluminum, glass and plastics #1-#7. Items must be placed in a clearly marked separate container from the trash. Recycling items DO NOT need to be separated.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR POSITON
The Columbia Township Board of Trustees is seeking candidates for the position of Library Director of the Columbia Township Library.
The Director is responsible for the facilities, financial management and personnel of the Library. This position is part-time (20+ hours per week with flexibility) and directly accountable to the Board.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or substantial experience required
A Master’s Degree in Library Science is preferred
Management and supervisory experience
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of computers and library technology
Experience with fiscal management and reporting

The Columbia Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed township budget for fiscal year 2023-24 on Tuesday, March 21 at 8:30 a.m at the Columbia Township Library Community Room 6456 Center St., Unionville. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing. A copy of the budget is available for public inspection by contacting the office of the township clerk.
